Ms. Bekker pursued a Bachelors in Vocal Performance from the Aaron Copland School of Music in New York City and continued at the University of North Texas with a Master's of Music in Vocal Performance. She currently is pursuing a Doctorate of Musical Arts in Voice and is a Teaching Fellow for graduate and undergraduate voice students at the University of North Texas.
She debuted at Carnegie Hall at the early age of 13 and has performed internationally including the Vatican for Pope Benedict XVI. Ms. Bekker has appeared in operas such as Les Dialogues des Carmélites, L’incoronazione di Poppea and Gianni Schicchi. In New York City, she was under the tutelage of Bonnie Hamilton, a faculty member of Mannes School of Music and Sherry Overholt, the head of the opera program at the Aaron Copland School of Music. She also studied piano under the current head of keyboard studies, Ken Johansen, at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore.
Today, Ms. Bekker is a flamenco singer with the Conte de Loyo flamenco group and sings opera professionally in the DFW area. She continues to perform in voice and piano and has been teaching in New York City since 2012 and in Dallas since 2014.
